Location: Huntsville, Alabama (in person, office near Gate 7 Redstone Arsenal)
Job Type: Part-Time (or Full-Time for the ideal candidate)

Job Description: We seek a 1. Humble, 2. Hungry, 3. Dynamic 4. People-oriented, “partner” to support our team’s growth. The ideal candidate will be responsible for a broad range of tasks that ensure the smooth operation of the firm, enhance client relations, and contribute to the firm’s online presence and relationships in the communities which we serve. This role requires a highly organized individual who can manage multiple responsibilities professionally and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Client Interaction: Respond to existing clients’ concerns and welcome the queries of prospective clients to build the trust of those who might be skeptical of lawyers. Conduct initial intake interviews to gather relevant information and assess client needs.
  • Military Records: Collect and organize troops’ records in Microsoft 365 “cloud,” protect private information and alert staff members of important developments in client cases
  • File Management: Ensure all records, both physical and electronic, are accurately maintained, organized, and easily accessible
  • Legal Research and Writing: Whether blog drafting or researching regulatory issues for clients, ability to draft and edit articles for the firm’s website and social media platforms, focusing on topics relevant to veterans, military law, and legal rights.
  • Support: As needed, assist the leadership team with scheduling, travel arrangements, and other administrative tasks. Although not required, a willingness to occasionally travel to military conferences would be a plus.

Qualifications:

  • Experience:   Previous experience in the military (or married to the military) or as an executive assistant, preferably with proven ability and passion for overcoming bureaucratic hurdles in the human resources and/or legal environment.  Experience with the Office of Soldier’s Counsel (OSC), Military Evaluation Board (MEB), Physical Evaluation Board (PEB), or the Integrated Disability Evaluation System (IDES) is preferred but not required.
  • Skills: No Paralegal Certificate Required. Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and experience with document management systems. Familiarity with content management systems and social media platforms is a plus.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of attention to detail, particularly in document review and redaction.

Minimum Working Hours: This part-time position (possibly full-time) requires daily availability from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM CST, Monday through Thursday, with optional Friday hours.
